Iran · An execution sends a message
After a brief revolutionary trial alleging Zionist espionage and other offences, Elghanian was executed on 9 May 1979 and his property confiscated. The execution frightened the Jewish community and contributed to emigration. A political accusation against a prominent figure had consequences far beyond the defendant.
